Caramel Apples

Success!!!

If you missed the last post you can read of my disaster with caramel apples here.

The caramel recipe I used was Grandma Betty’s Caramel  Apples Recipe via Tasty Kitchen. The caramel was divine!!!  I drizzled melted dark chocolate chips on the apples. I also used lollipop sticks on the apples. My apples are on the small side because I picked them from my tree in my backyard!

Here is what I have learned from all of our great Ucreate readers:

Use wax paper! (Slightly embarrassed that I didn’t think of it, myself!)

Dry off the apples to try to keep the caramel on.

There are more options for caramel than the individually wrapped caramels.

You can use a melon baller to make small apples for dipping.

Melted butterscotch morsels instead of caramel!

I am not the only one that has messed up caramel apples! This one made my day!

Mini Apple Bites

The mini apples dipped in chocolate are so good. They are a few tips I need to mention.

After you cut the apple up, dry the cut portion of apple. Insert the toothpick into the apple and dip in chocolate. I used melted dark chocolate chips for mine. Let the apple harden on wax paper. I put mine in the fridge to speed things up!

Drizzle the caramel on the apples, avoid the wax paper, as the caramel can stick and put off the chocolate. I suggest you eat them within an hour or two. The bottom side of the cut apple starts to weep and will make the bottom chocolate fall off!

Enjoy!

  3. Yummy! They look like they're way easier to eat than those humongous apples at the candy store! I wonder if you can use a silicone mat instead of wax paper?
