Hostess Gift: Cupcake Holder Tutorial

I am really excited to share this Hostess Gift with you!

The Silhouette Machine makes it easy to create this project.

Supplies

  • Silhouette Machine

I purchased the following from Silhouette Online Store:

    • 3D Cupcake Box (3d_box_C01112_20509)
    • Cupcake (cupcake_C20090824135606_20387)
    • Heart ( 4_hearts_C01074_20509)
  • Double sided 12 x 12 paper
  • Black Vinyl
  • Red Vinyl
  • Empty Pop Can
  • Delicious Cupcake
  • Matching Ribbon
  • Kitchen Scissors
  • Double Sided Tape

The font I used for the “Thank You” was Joint by Pizzadude {I didn’t pick the name…hehe}

On Silhouette’s blog there is a tutorial called Text on a Path that teaches how to cut the words in a circular shape.

MAKING THE BOX

Step 1:  Cut and assemble the 3D cupcake box out of patterned paper. Heavy cardstock works best.  FYI: Save the left over paper circle for later.{Sorry no pictures; I’m new and forgot.}

Step 2: I love the pattern paper, but it was a bit busy so I cut a circle out of red vinyl for a pop of color. Use the circle tool on the left side bar.

Step 3:  Remember the circle left over from the cupcake holder? Turn the paper over and add the vinyl  wording and cute cupcake. Adorn the front of your box.

HOW TO CUT THE HEART

{This is my favorite part of the gift!}

Step 1: Take your kitchen scissors {NOT YOUR FABRIC ONES} and cut the top of the can off.

Step 2: Then add the vinyl heart over the the part of the can that you want to show off. Cut out the heart.

Step 3: Finally, pull off the vinyl. Tada! You now have a super cute heart to add a personal touch to your gift.

Step 4: Add the super cute heart to the cupcake!

When you have the cupcake all boxed up, add a ribbon to finish off your amazing hostess gift!

For extra points, give a Diet Coke too!
